Senior Purchasing Manager - Lincoln based, on site Mon-Fri - £55K-£60K + bonus

 

Based on site in Lincoln, a leading multinational within the manufacturing industry is looking to appoint a Purchasing Manager as part of their global team. Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Purchasing Manager is the functional owner of purchasing and accountable for the leadership, governance and commercial performance of all direct and indirect purchasing activities.

 

The role develops and delivers purchasing and category strategies, ensures continuity of supply, achieves sustainable cost improvements and maintains a competitive, capable and compliant supply base.

This is a senior, hands-on management role requiring strong commercial leadership and the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels.

 

With two direct reports and 3 indirect reports, you will have excellent demonstratable leadership qualities and you will be accountable for your team and their input.

 

You will lead cross-functional purchasing activity with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance and Commercial teams and advise the Supply Chain Director and leadership team on material commercial opportunities, supplier risks, cost exposures and decisions requiring senior authority.

 

The successful candidate will have the following skills and knowledge:

 

  • Substantial purchasing or procurement management experience within manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership of a purchasing team and ownership of strategic and tactical purchasing across direct and indirect spend.
  • Strong experience of category management, competitive tendering, negotiation, contracts and procurement governance.
  • Proven delivery of cost reduction, supplier performance and supply-risk improvements.
  • Strong commercial, financial and analytical judgement, with confident use of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of ethical sourcing, Modern Slavery, anti-bribery and supplier-compliance requirements.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
  • Fluency in English both spoken and written C1 Level.

 

Candidates with a CIPS qualification or equivalent are highly desirable along with a background in polymers, subber, chemical or engineering sector.
